Rokurokubi is a game mixing beat em up and discretion. The game is played with 2 players and they have the choice to play the "head" or to choose the "body" of a Rorurokubi (monster in Japanese mythology).
-
Each character has a different ability: the head can eat the enemies it has murdered discretely and regain life for the 2 players, because life is shared between the 2 players, then there is the body that can take head of defeated enemies quietly and pretend to be a Yakuza.
-
Project in the case of a course, I was assigned to a team and we had to design a game from the start and advance it enough in 6 weeks to be able to do playtests with the game. For this project I had to ask my Lead project if I could be on the level design, since that's my specialty.
-
The big design challenge was to create environments with lots of hiding places for the player and how he can move and how the player can move from one safe spot to another.
-
The critical path had to be easy to follow and be able to accommodate 2 players. The level design had to be designed to be played solo or in co-op.
